Viewing and interpreting results

The interpretation of the results of analysing data using a region can be illustrated using an example. Consider the inverted region in

Manipulating data » Creating new region files » Selecting » By selecting other CIS files

as an example, and overlay other data from within the OS Strategi dataset. If we recall, the inverted region represents areas that are < 50% Built up towns and < 50% Open countryside. We could then overlay the geographic data onto this region to see what proportion of the land is made up with other land uses. The example below illustrates this.

It is important that users understand the difference between magnification and selection / refinement. For example, the table will describe the whole of Britain irrespective of if the squares can be seen in the window or not.
