Data sets
CIS comes bundled with data from the Countryside Surveys of 1990 & 1998 and with national and county political boundaries. These are available to user when CIS is downloaded and installed.
The built-in datasets include
- Land Cover Map 2000
- Countryside Survey 2000
- Regions, Counties, Local Authorities
- Ordnance Survey reference data (roads, rivers, etc.)
- Ordnance Survey topography (altitude, slopes, etc.)
There is also the CIS website from which other data can be downloaded www.cis-web.org.uk/home/
Data in CIS is in a GRID or raster format either at a resolution of 1km2 or 10 km2.
