Overview
Screen layouts

In operation, CIS uses standard Windows appearance and tools with two flexible windows to present information in different visual formats.
As a default, the left hand side of the screen contains what is called the ‘map window’ that displays the geographic distribution of squares. Using the mouse, it is possible to zoom in or out as the user desires or to select portions of the map as part of queries.
The right hand side of the screen contains the ‘data window’. There are several alternative data screens either providing tabular or textual descriptions of the distribution in the map window or allowing parameters for queries to be set. Both windows are controlled by the menu bar and tool buttons at the top of the screen.
